I get asked this question a lot: "What's your most popular piece of glass beaded jewelry?" While preferred colors change from season to season and trends evolve, I can still honestly say that I've had a clear best seller which has held true over the years since I've been making and selling glass beaded jewelry.
Mustard Yellow Glass Beaded Earrings
The mustard yellow color has taken the fashion world by storm over the last few years, and that has definitely been the case for jewelry, accessories, clothing and home decor. Just this past spring, contemporary design blogger Michelle Ogundehin wrote about the fact that mustard yellow was clearly fast-tracking its way to be the interiors accent colour du jour having been seen everywhere at the Milan Furniture Fair in April 2018.
You see the color just about everywhere...from dresses to coats to rugs to lamps. You name it. It's an easy color to use to add impact and pack a punch, whether its a paint color for an interior room in your house, to a pair of shoes or beaded earrings for a new outfit. This color looks great with gray, black, tan, navy and just about every other color you can think of.
For most of us, we've been seeing this color for several years now. In fact, Business Insider discussed this color back in the spring of 2017. I would agree the sales of this particular pair of earrings began at that exact time--April 2017 and hasn't stopped since.
When I make these beads, I'm using a glass color called Apple Blush (pictured above). It's not the easiest color to work with in the flame--it can be finicky and can pop easily, meaning while I'm trying to warm the glass rod up in the flame, it pops and the glass breaks off at the end of the rod. When I get it to work though, it's a beautiful, unique and vibrant color.
I have a few variations of earring styles using this mustard yellow color. For example, I have sterling silver hoops that feature one large mustard yellow glass bead on each one (pictured above). I also have a pair of sterling silver hoops that feature three mustard yellow glass beads on each hoop. Click here to see them.
Most of us have an opinion about the mustard yellow color. It's distinct, it's noticeable and packs a punch whether it's clothing, jewelry or home decor. What's your opinion? Do you love it or hate it?
